Blue Gold: American Jeans is a feature-length documentary film, tracing the unique history of denim jeans, Blue Gold explores Americana in a globalized world.

The film is weaving together the story of how one unlikely garment ended up connecting us all. Starting in the American West the film travels around the world following jeans hunter and vintage jeans expert, Eric who is trading in the history, myth, and intrinsic values that have made blue jeans one of the most expensive and fetishized piece of vintage clothing on the planet.

Christine Detlefsen is Executive Producer and creator of the original idea and concept for BLUE GOLD - American Jeans.

Christine had the initial idea to create a documentary about the Blue Gold, a feature-lenght documentary feature length movie tracing the cultural impact of the Blue Jean in modern culture. Blue Gold - American jeans, is the first film tracking the mythical blue jean and trying to find the origins of the culture behind the facination,of jeans across the globe .

Christine started researching around the iconic rosebowl fleamarket known to all jeans-lovers as the best place in the world to hunt for vintage jeans. The more she understood the more interesting the story became, and she asked her friends in the film industry to help make the documentary Blue Gold. In 2014 the movie launched at Sundance film festival and has been shown at denim shows, in fashion schools and streaming services Hulu and Netflix.
